Westfest 2010

This past weekend joined in the festivities and had some fun at Westfest. We browsed the booths, watch the WVPD do a K-9 demonstration and went on many many rides. Charlotte loves to take a ride on the Carousal. Steve has been elected as the parent to take her on all these rides. I have never been one for them and neither has my stomach. He really enjoys it and did say that was his favorite part of the afternoon. Watching his little girl have fun on the rides, and going on some with her.

Of course I had to have some fun, so Steve suggested we take a ride on the bumper cars. That was so much fun. I later had the worst headache from all the constant hitting I was subjected to. Thanks Steve.

We really did have a great time, and it seems as if summer is off to a great start.

Winter Coat

Charlotte has been wanting to wear her wintercoat the last few days. She just wants the hood on her head, then she prances all over the house. Nerd!

Pigtails

Charlottes hair has been getting pretty long, so I thouhgt I would try something out, and look....how cute is that.

Cuteness

These pictures really do not have a post to go along with them. They are just Charlotte being her usual cute self.

Baby Faces

Last night the sun was beaming into the TV room, and charlotte was in the way of the light, so I thought I would try and get some shots of her. Here is what I captured.

Millie Goat

This afternoon our Millie had a seizure. Charlotte and I were in the TV room snuggling when in the kitchen I saw Charlotte's plastic shopping cart get kicked over. I could only see just a small portion of Millie's foot, and at first it looked like she was playing and rough housing with the cat. I had just seen the cat in there with her. I got up to tell her to leave the cat alone when I saw her convulsing on the floor, and at that moment it felt like time stood still. I yelled her name grabbed the phone, and started comforting her. I was so scared. My heart was racing and I was not sure what to do. The thought of calling 911 went through my head, but instead I called Bonnie. Bonnie's dog suffers from frequent seizures and I thought that she may be my best bet. Millie's episode lasted at the most 10 seconds, but it really felt like forever. Bonnie arrived, and called her Steve to bring over some oxygen. After 5 minutes or so Millie started to calm down, and resume her normal-ness and after 20 minutes and 1/2 a zanix she was calm. Since then she has been great. All the cats know something happened. I had hardly seen them all day, and since Millie's episode the are all out and where Millie is. Charlotte has been giving Millie occasional hugs.
We love our Millie goat and she gave me - us a good scare today. After the episode with the dogs attacking the cat the previous morning and now this..... I am emotionally exhausted.

White

This container was placed at the foot of the steps so it could be taken out to recycling. I went back into Charlotte's room to vacuum and when I came back....this is what I saw. Of course I laughed, and let her keep it up for another minute or so.

Next time I will make sure it is completly empty.

2 Dogs vs a Cat

What a horrible morning. Steve was not feeling well so when I got up at 8am, he was back in bed. The morning went on as usual. Snuggles with Charlotte and then breakfast. About 10am we were playing in the front room, Steve had just got and was at the top of the stairs. I looked out the window and our quiet morning ended. When I looked out the window I saw 2 dogs charge into my neighbors garage across the street. He does not own dogs, but he does have 2 cats that live in the garage. I yelled to Steve " Al's cats are being attacked by dogs". I will not go into detail of what I saw but they were outside with the cat I saw it all. He was out the door so fast. When I looked out the window again, he and Al we out were on the lawn and the dogs were gone, and the cat was lying on the lawn. The dogs were Pit bulls.

Just one of Al's cats got injured. Steve took off after the dogs bare foot through the neighborhood, and Al joined him once he got off the phone with the Police.Bonnie got the Cat covered with blankets, and we stayed behind and comforted her while waiting for Animal Control and the Police. This poor cat kept moving, crawling on the grass. She was a stray and had a litter. Al and his wife kept the mom( the one hurt) and one baby. I saw both cats run into the garage and we think she was trying to protect her baby, and then tried to get away and that is when the dog got her.

Not 10 minutes later the dogs were back. I of course darted as fast as I could across the street and in the house since I had Charlotte, and Bonnie stayed with the cat. The dogs stopped for a moment and then continued down the street. Al followed them down an adjoining street, Steve followed and then our neighbor Kelly joined in the hunt for Dogs, and our other neighbor Steve. The guys finally got the dogs cornered into a backyard. Animal Control showed up at Al's and we sent her over to where the dogs were being held. She had no problem picking up the dogs. She said they were "very friendly" almost "overly friendly" dogs and it is just dog instinct to go after cats, which I totally dis-agree with. I have never met someone who worked for animal control who is so insensitive. This mans cat was just severely hurt, nearly torn apart by 2 dogs and she had the nerve to say " it is dog instinct to attack cats". Mille would never just go after a cat. NEVER. The cop said to me " it was only a cat". Maybe to you, but not to me and not to Al and his wife.

After things had settled down, and Charlotte was down for a nap....I lost it. You all know that I an a huge cat lover, but I think what really got to me was actually seeing it right. it has been playing over and over in my head all day. This afternoon we checked in and the cat was still alive, and they were getting ready to take her to the vet. They still are not home, so there is no update on her condition.

I really think this is going to haunt me for a while. Also, I think my animals know something happened. They have all been acting a little different today.

*** UPDATE***
This morning 6/16/2010 Pepper had to be put to sleep to her injuries. Her white blood cell count was gone, and her immune system was so down her back end was starting to rot. We are so sad about this whole thing. I have still not sleep well since the event, and I continue to see it play out in my head. Pepper will be buried in her backyard.

When no one is looking....

While Steve and I were cleaning up dinner, we noticed it became a little too quite in the other room. Here is what we found.

FYI - A cat harness makes a great necklace

Smile

Love, Love, LOVE this girl

Summer Fun

Summer has finally arrived, and with that means sprinklers. This was Charlotte's first time with the sprinklers, so we went low key by just turning on one. She was a little hesitant , but I think she really loved it and I know Steve loved it too.

Charlotte - 15 Months

15 months or 1.3 yrs. How ever you want to look at it Charlotte has been with us for 15 months and we continue to love and enjoy every moment of it. She continues to make a laugh, smile and cry(when she bites). It seems just like yesterday we celebrated her 1st birthday, and she has already changed so much. Her hair is starting to become much more curly, she is getting taller. More teeth have arrived and continue ,making some days more difficult than others. We continue to go to the gym daily, where she enjoys playtime at the daycare. She is always happily accepted, and greeted by her name. She most days reaches for the caregivers, and always finds kids to play with. She is at most times a very happy baby. She loves to play in the dirt, and water. Going on bike rides with Steve, and wagon rides with me around the neighborhood. It seems right now that her favorite toy is her pink shopping cart. She is constantly dragging it all around the house. She has found a love for bubbles, balloons and bracelets. Her eating continues to be pretty good. She loves fruits and vegetables, corn, peas and hot dogs (Nathans or Hebrew national), and string cheese. Her sleeping also continues to improve, with the exception of when she is teething. She heads to bed most night between 8 and 9 pm, sleeping until 730-8am. I know it is time get up when she turns on her music, which usually puts me back to sleep since it is lullaby music.
She is such a good baby. We have been very lucky to have such an easy going little one since the first day.
