So it seems that we just started the new year, and already we are just over half way through 2008. July is here and I am not ready. This summer I have 2 major milestones.
1st. The big 30 is knocking on my door, and I am not prepared for it. I now understand why all the adults in my life growing up kept telling me they were 29 , when they clearly were not. 30 is a huge milestone in life and I am not sure how to face it. Can I stay 29 forever? My 20s were not that bad. All you ever hear people say is that their 30s are way better than their 20s. Soon I will be 30...then 40...how do you get prepared? (Shannon, you will be 30 not long after me, so I would not be to mean to me on my birthday)
2nd. I am running my first ever race. I will be running 10k in the Days of 47 marathon with my dear, dear friend Shannon. Way to start small. Don't most people start off small races like 5k for their first one? I am so not prepared. NOT PREPARED AT ALL, mentally and/or physical. I am nervous, scared, anxious, excited.Well mostly scared. Can I do it? That is what I keep asking myself. Can I physically walk/run 6+ miles? I get nervous just talking about it. I continue to have the same dream. I am the last one out of thousands of people in the race, I do not finish. They have to come and find me somewhere back on the race route and pick me up. Wait.... that is not a dream...that is a nightmare. Shannon continues to be my support system. Telling me that she will be by my side the entire race, cheering me on and encouraging me. I am sure she will get tired of me early on in the race, and ditch me. I feel sorry for her, having to run with me, but she will not let me back out. I bet she rethinks this once the race starts,
I suppose we can not just have 11 months this year instead of 12?
Bring July on I suppose. Even thouhgh I am scared to face it.
