This is a good Cause. Take the time to read and Sign
From a nurse:
I'll never forget the look in my patients' eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You' they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure.
Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.
It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important.. Please take the time and do it! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times.
If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour
hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through' Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with a petition drive to show support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name, state, and zip code.

WHAT! July Already? Are you serious?
So it seems that we just started the new year, and already we are just over half way through 2008. July is here and I am not ready. This summer I have 2 major milestones.
1st. The big 30 is knocking on my door, and I am not prepared for it. I now understand why all the adults in my life growing up kept telling me they were 29 , when they clearly were not. 30 is a huge milestone in life and I am not sure how to face it. Can I stay 29 forever? My 20s were not that bad. All you ever hear people say is that their 30s are way better than their 20s. Soon I will be 30...then 40...how do you get prepared? (Shannon, you will be 30 not long after me, so I would not be to mean to me on my birthday)
2nd. I am running my first ever race. I will be running 10k in the Days of 47 marathon with my dear, dear friend Shannon. Way to start small. Don't most people start off small races like 5k for their first one? I am so not prepared. NOT PREPARED AT ALL, mentally and/or physical. I am nervous, scared, anxious, excited.Well mostly scared. Can I do it? That is what I keep asking myself. Can I physically walk/run 6+ miles? I get nervous just talking about it. I continue to have the same dream. I am the last one out of thousands of people in the race, I do not finish. They have to come and find me somewhere back on the race route and pick me up. Wait.... that is not a dream...that is a nightmare. Shannon continues to be my support system. Telling me that she will be by my side the entire race, cheering me on and encouraging me. I am sure she will get tired of me early on in the race, and ditch me. I feel sorry for her, having to run with me, but she will not let me back out. I bet she rethinks this once the race starts,
I suppose we can not just have 11 months this year instead of 12?
Bring July on I suppose. Even thouhgh I am scared to face it.

My Buddy and Me

For a while now, Steve and I have talked about me getting a scooter. Saturday we went out looking at them and I fell in love with " The Buddy". I fell in love even more after test driving it. This thihng gets 90 MPG.
The bummer thing about getting a scooter it I have to have a motorcycle license to take on the major roads ( ie... Bangeter Highway). So, the next step is to get into class. I am a little nervous about it. It is a lot different from driving a car, and you have to pay much better attention to what you are doing. I guess I will not be putting on my lip gloss while driving.
Cant, you just see me on it? Riding down the highway in my heels, wearing my pink helmet? Way cute.
